Quick Access with a PIN

What it does

A PIN lets you sign in to POSolid with a short 4-digit code instead of typing your email and password every time. It's the fastest way for staff to sign on and off the till during a busy shift, and it's also what you use to unlock the screen after POSolid locks itself.

Getting started

  1. Sign in to POSolid the normal way (email and password) at least once on the device.
  2. Open your Profile — tap your name.
  3. Choose Change PIN, enter a 4-digit PIN, type it again to confirm, and save.
  4. A window pops up showing your Staff ID and asking whether you want to try locking the screen now to test your new PIN. Tap Try lock to test it right away, or Later to keep working — either way, note the Staff ID shown, since you'll need it to sign in with your PIN.
  5. From then on, on your organization's PIN login page, enter your Staff ID, then your PIN, to sign in.

Key things to know

  • You sign in with your Staff ID, not your name. The PIN screen asks for your Staff ID (a short code) followed by your PIN — there's no name to pick from a list.
  • Where to find your Staff ID: it's on your Profile page, shown next to your name. A manager can also look it up for anyone in the staff list (Staff & Roles).
  • A PIN is personal — each staff member sets their own, and it identifies who is signed in.
  • The PIN is 4 digits.
  • The same PIN unlocks POSolid after it locks itself (for example, after a period of inactivity) — you're returned exactly where you left off, without a full sign-out.
  • For the fastest daily start, combine your PIN with the installed app opened on the PIN login page (see Install the App).
  • You can change your PIN at any time from Profile → Change PIN.
  • Right after you save a new PIN, POSolid shows you your Staff ID and offers to try it. A PIN alone can't sign you in — the login screen also asks for the Staff ID — so this window puts both in front of you at once. Tap Try lock to lock the screen immediately and sign back in with the new PIN while you're still able to fall back to your password if something's wrong, or tap Later to keep working and try it another time.

FAQ

Q: Where do I set my PIN?
A: Open your Profile (tap your name), choose Change PIN, enter a 4-digit code twice, and save.

Q: Where do I find my Staff ID?
A: It's on your Profile page, shown next to your name. If you can't reach your Profile, a manager can look it up for you in the staff list (Staff & Roles).

Q: Do I still need my password?
A: You sign in with email and password the first time on a device; after that, your PIN is enough for day-to-day sign-in and for unlocking the screen.

Q: I forgot my PIN — what do I do?
A: Sign in with your email and password, then set a new PIN from Profile → Change PIN.

Q: What is the PIN for when the screen locks?
A: If POSolid locks itself after inactivity, entering your PIN unlocks it and returns you exactly where you left off, without signing you out completely.

Q: I just changed my PIN and a window popped up showing my Staff ID — what's that for?
A: It's there so you have both halves of what you'll need to sign in with your PIN — the code alone isn't enough, the login screen asks for your Staff ID first. Tap Try lock to test the new PIN right away, or Later to dismiss it and try it another time.
