Dashboard

What it does

The Dashboard is the home screen you land on after logging in. It shows a set of small cards ("widgets") that give you an at-a-glance view of what's happening right now — open orders, kitchen status, free tables, today's revenue, upcoming reservations, and more. Managers can choose which cards each staff role sees and how they're arranged.

Getting started

  1. Log in and you'll land on the Dashboard automatically (or open it any time from the menu).
  2. Each card shows a live number or short list — tap a card to jump straight to the related screen (for example, tapping the open orders card takes you to Active Orders).
  3. If you have permission to manage the dashboard, you'll see a Configure button. Tap it to open the layout editor.
  4. In the editor, pick a staff role at the top — you're editing what that role sees, not just your own view.
  5. On the left you'll see cards not yet added; tap the plus icon to add one to that role's dashboard. On the right you'll see the cards currently shown, in the order they'll appear.
  6. Drag a card up or down in the active list to reorder it. Use the "Wide" switch to make a card take up more space on the screen.
  7. Some cards need extra setup before they're useful — for example, the sales card asks you to pick a menu item and a time period, and the revenue and top-sellers cards ask you to pick a time period and, optionally, something to compare it against.
  8. Tap the pencil icon on an already-added card to change its settings, or the X to remove it.
  9. Tap Save when you're happy with the layout. Everyone with that role will see the new layout the next time they open the Dashboard.

Key things to know

  • The layout is set per staff role, not per person — everyone sharing a role sees the same cards in the same order. There's no way to set a personal layout that's different from your role's.
  • Only managers (or anyone given the right to manage the dashboard) can open the layout editor and change what's shown. Everyone else just views their role's dashboard.
  • Cards only appear if the related feature is switched on for your venue and if the viewing role has permission to see that kind of information. For example, the kitchen status card only shows up if the kitchen display feature is enabled and the role can view kitchen orders.
  • If a role hasn't been given a custom layout yet, a sensible starting set of cards is shown automatically.
  • The Messages card is a preview of what's coming soon and doesn't show live data yet.
  • Changes you save apply immediately for everyone with that role — there's no separate publish step.

FAQ

Q: Why do I see different cards than a coworker with a different role?
A: The dashboard layout is set per role. Managers can give different roles different cards, and a card only shows up for a role if that role is allowed to see that kind of information (for example, only staff who can view orders see the order-related cards).

Q: I don't see a Configure button — how do I change my dashboard?
A: Only staff with permission to manage the dashboard (usually managers) can edit layouts. Ask a manager to make the change for your role.

Q: Can I set up my own personal dashboard, different from my coworkers'?
A: No — the layout is shared by everyone with the same role. If you want it changed, ask a manager to update the layout for your role.

Q: I added the sales-by-item card but nothing shows — what's wrong?
A: That card needs you to pick a specific menu item and time period when you add it. Tap the pencil icon on the card to open its settings and confirm an item is selected.

Q: What does the "Wide" switch do?
A: It makes that card take up extra width on the screen, which is useful for cards that show lists or charts (like top-selling items or upcoming reservations) so more detail fits without scrolling.

Q: Why did some cards disappear after I turned off a feature (like the kitchen display or table management)?
A: Cards tied to a feature that's switched off for your venue are automatically hidden — there's nothing wrong with your setup.

Q: Can I compare today's revenue to a previous period?
A: Yes, when adding or editing the revenue or sales cards you can choose a comparison — for example against the previous period or the same period last year — and the card will show the trend.
