Create Your Account

What it does

Signing up creates two things at once: your organization (your restaurant's private workspace on POSolid) and your personal owner account for managing it. It takes a couple of minutes and needs no card, no download, and no app store — you fill in one short two-step form in your browser, confirm your email, and you're in. Everything else — staff, menu, tables, printers — is added later from inside the app.

What you'll need

Have these ready before you start:

  • A name for your business — how your restaurant will be shown in POSolid.
  • A short web address — your own POSolid link, e.g. your-venue. This becomes the address your staff use to sign in. It must be at least 5 and at most 56 characters, and can only contain lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens — no spaces or other symbols.
  • A working email address you can open straight away — you'll get a confirmation link there, and your account stays inactive until you click it.
  • Your country — used for regional defaults.
  • A username and password for the owner account. A username may only contain Latin letters, numbers, and the characters . _ % + - — no spaces or other symbols.

Getting started

  1. From the POSolid home page, choose Sign up (or go to the sign-up page).
  2. Step 1 — Organization:
    • Enter your business name.
    • Pick your web address. POSolid checks it as you type: if it's too short, contains a space, or uses a character other than a lowercase letter, number, or hyphen, you'll see a message explaining what to fix. Once the format is fine, it checks whether that address is free — a green tick means it's available, red means it's taken, so try another.
    • Select your country.
    • Optionally turn on Quick start with demo data to pre-fill your account with a sample menu, images, inventory, and more, so you have something to explore right away. Leave it off to start empty.
      • With it on, you can also pick a business type — Restaurant, Kebab House, Coffee Shop, Food Truck, Market Stall, Fast Food, Cafe, or Bakery — this is optional and only decides which sample menu you get; leaving it unspecified gives you the same general restaurant example as picking Restaurant.
    • Tick the box confirming you agree to the Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy — including the 14-day free trial terms and email contact from our sales team about your trial and about continuing on a paid plan. Next stays greyed out until you do. Both links open in a new tab, so you won't lose what you've filled in.
    • Select Next.
  3. Step 2 — Your account:
    • Choose a username (checked for availability as you type). It can only contain Latin letters, numbers, and the characters . _ % + - — spaces and other symbols are simply dropped as you type them.
    • Enter your first and last name.
    • Enter your email, then a password and confirm it.
    • Answer the small maths question (this proves you're human).
    • Below it you'll see what you're getting: the account is created with full access to every feature, with no limits, for 14 days, and no credit card is required.
    • Select Sign up.
  4. You'll see a "Check your email" screen. Open the confirmation email and click the link to activate your account.
  5. Return to the login page and sign in with your new username and password.

Key things to know

  • The first account is the owner. Whoever signs up owns the organization and has full access. You add the rest of your team afterwards from Staff & Roles — they don't sign up separately.
  • Your web address is your sign-in address. Choose it carefully; it's what staff use every day and how the app opens.
  • You must confirm your email before logging in. The account stays inactive until the link is clicked. Didn't get the email? Check your spam or junk folder.
  • The demo data is optional and just sample content. You can edit or delete it later — it's there so you can try things out, not something you're stuck with. Picking a business type only changes which sample menu you get; it doesn't lock in any settings.
  • No payment details are asked for at sign-up. You only provide your business name, web address, country, and account details.
  • Once you're in, install POSolid as an app for the fastest daily start — see Install the App.

FAQ

Q: Do I need a credit card or to download anything to sign up?
A: No. POSolid runs in your browser. Signing up asks only for your business details and account login — no card and no app-store download.

Q: What is the "web address" for?
A: It's your organization's own POSolid link. Your staff go to it to sign in, and it's the page the installed app opens on. Pick something short and recognisable.

Q: I didn't receive the confirmation email — what now?
A: Check your spam or junk folder first. The email is required to activate the account, so make sure the address you entered is correct and one you can open.

Q: Should I turn on the demo data?
A: If you're new and want to explore, yes — it fills your account with a sample menu, images, and inventory so screens aren't empty. If you'd rather build everything from scratch, leave it off. You can change or remove the demo data at any time.

Q: Why can't I pick just any web address?
A: It has to be between 5 and 56 characters and use only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens. This keeps it safe to use as part of a web link, so try a shorter version of your business name if the one you want doesn't fit.

Q: Sign-up failed partway through — can I try again with the same details?
A: Yes. If something interrupts the process — a dropped connection, for example — nothing is left half-created. Just select Sign up again with the same business name, web address, and account details.

Q: Does the business type I pick for demo data change what I can do later?
A: No. It only decides which sample menu and description you start with — leaving it unspecified gives you the exact same result as picking Restaurant. You can still add, edit, or delete anything afterwards, whatever type of business you actually run.

Q: How do my staff get accounts?
A: You don't sign up for them. After your account is created, add each team member from Staff & Roles and assign their role. They then sign in on your organization's web address.

Q: Why can't I use a space or symbol in my username?
A: A username can only contain Latin letters, numbers, and the characters . _ % + -. Anything else — a space especially — is removed automatically as you type, so what you see in the field is always what actually gets saved.

Q: What happens when my 14-day free trial ends?
A: If you haven't moved to a paid plan by then, your account is closed to logins. Your data isn't deleted right away — it's kept for 30 days so you can still ask us to export it, and after that it's removed. You'll get a warning email on each of the last 3 days of your trial, and someone from our sales team will typically reach out by email around day 7 to help with the switch to a paid plan.

Q: How do I move from the free trial to a paid plan?
A: Get in touch with us — sales will contact you during your trial, or you can reach out yourself using the contact details on the Terms and Conditions page. No card is charged automatically at sign-up or when the trial ends.
