Install the App

What it does

POSolid runs in your web browser, but you can also install it as an app on your phone, tablet, or computer. It then opens full-screen from your home screen or dock — just like a normal app, with nothing to download from an app store. This is the recommended way to run POSolid on any device you use every day, especially your till.

Getting started

Best practice: install it while you're on your organization's PIN login page, so the app always opens straight to that PIN screen.

1. On the device you'll use, open your organization's PIN login page (your venue's POSolid sign-in address).
2. Install the app:
   • Android (Chrome): tap the menu (⋮), then Install app / Add to Home screen.
   • iPhone / iPad (Safari): tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
   • Computer (Chrome / Edge): click the Install icon in the address bar, or open the menu and choose Install POSolid.
3. Confirm, and the POSolid icon appears on your home screen or desktop.
4. Open POSolid from that icon — it launches full-screen, directly on your PIN login page.

Key things to know

• Where you install from matters. The installed app reopens on the page you installed it from. Installing from your PIN login page means every launch lands on the PIN screen, so staff sign in with a tap. Installing from another page opens the app somewhere else.
• Why it's so convenient: it opens full-screen with no browser bars, launches faster, feels like a real app, and always starts exactly where staff need to begin their shift.
• It's still the same POSolid — installing doesn't create a separate account or a copy of your data. It's a full-screen shortcut to the same web app.
• It works on any modern phone, tablet, or computer. No app store, download approval, or separate account is needed.
• Pair this with a personal PIN (see Quick Access with a PIN) for the fastest possible daily sign-in.

FAQ

Q: Do I need to download POSolid from an app store?
A: No. POSolid installs directly from your web browser as an app (a "Progressive Web App"). There's nothing to search for or approve in an app store.

Q: Why should I install it from the PIN login page?
A: The app reopens on whatever page you installed it from. Installing from your organization's PIN login page means every launch goes straight to the PIN screen, so staff can sign in immediately.

Q: Is the installed app different from the website?
A: No — it's the same POSolid, just running full-screen from an icon instead of inside a browser tab. Your data and sign-in are identical.
